Early Native-carved and pigmented dance mask with extensive ethnographic patina and use-wear. Period Native repair to bottom right corner of mask. Remains of fibers and binding. 17 1/8 x 10 1/2 x 9 1/4 in.

From the collection of Ambassador Patricia Hawkins (b. 1949 d. 2021) and Richard Hawkins, who were both officers in the United States Foreign Service. They were stationed in several African countries during their careers and Patricia served a term as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Togo (2008-2011).
