Northern Philippines Shield
Wood carved shield with burned adornments of a central lizard, and outer centipede insect motifs. The piece presents in an original dry surface patina. A very similar example, owned by a noted tribal arts colleague, was documented as collected from a Philippine Native visitor to The World’s Fair Columbian Exposition of 1893 held in Chicago, IL, USA. Excellent condition with some scratches, minor wear and surface losses as expected.
